Description
At the end of this activity, students should be able to: – write the electron configuration of Group 17 elements – describe the trends in the size of atomic and ionic radii in elements of Group 17 – state the direction of changes in the melting point and the boiling point in Group 17 – discuss the relationship between the atomic structure and the physical properties of elements – describe the trends in the reactivity of halogens – explain why chlorine is more reactive than bromine – state whether a reaction occurs between a molecule of a particular halogen and a simple ion of another halogen.
